Glenfern Associates: Managing Shows and Fêtes
Cups and Trophies is an event management application, designed for county, livestock and horticultural shows - any event in which exhibits are judged for prizes, and cups and trophies are awarded.
To a great extent, the application allows the organisers to configure the software easily to meet the show's specific requirements, rather than conform to a more general, rigid model.
Cups and Trophies
- Defines classes in which entrants supply exhibits for judging
- Manages entries by individuals, groups, clubs and schools, etc
- Produces labels to attach to exhibits for anonymous identification when judging takes place
- Produces a list of exhibits by class to facilitate the laying out of exhibits on tables and stands before judging starts
- Produces a slip for each class upon which the judge can record the winners of that class
- Records the decisions of the judges, and allocates prizes
- Allows judges not to award prizes in categories in which exhibits do not meet the standards required
- Produces a list of winners
- Calculates and accumulates the prize money for each winner
- Awards cups and trophies in groups of classes and other categories
- Produces summaries for release to the public and press
- Produces address labels to send out promotional materials to all entrants prior to next year's show.
In its present form, the application is the result of experience gained at Wilmslow, Taunton and Wiveliscombe Shows between 2002 and 2009. More
